One of the most challenging panels was dedicated to healthcare and how smart innovation can contribute to advance it according to OneHealth perspective. This panel – entitled “A OneHealth perspective on Public Healthcare, life quality, and smart technologies” – engaged the genetist Andrea Ballabio (founder and director of the Telethon TIGEM Institute), Caterina Meglio (AD of Materias, an early stage combined accelerator for innovative start-ups), Pierluigi Paracchi (CEO of the unicorn Genenta Science), Pierluigi Petrone (CEO of the Petrone Group and vice-president of Farmindustria) in a livelly debate about of smart technologies, and in particular Artificial Intelligence (AI), Research and Development (R&D), and innovation can holistically improve healthcare quality, accessibility, and sustainability. The debate was coordinated and moderated by Silvia Cosimato (University of Naples “Federico II”) and Gianmario Verona (Bocconi University, Milan).

The panelists presented and discussed – together with the audience – the bright and dark sides of the healthcare sector, focusing on the specific perspective of each actor who participate of its specific and intricate supply chains. In doing so, the role of the most innovative and smart technologies (as AI, Blockchain, Medical Internet of Thing, etc.) for making the different health-related processes and services has been discussed.

When dealing with innovation, the panelists discussed the implications of specific smart technologies – especially AI – for advancing and empowering biotechnological and genetic research at national, European, and international level. This is even more essential to take further step forward the personalized predictive medicine, which is one of the core approaches for operationalizing and advancing the OneHealth approach developed, formalized, and promoted by some primary international organizations, such as FAO, OIE, UNEP e WHO.

Therefore, the Italian Festival of Management served as a crucial platform for dissecting the intricate relationship between management innovation and critical sectors like healthcare. The discussions underscored the transformative potential of smart technologies, particularly AI, in driving advancements within a OneHealth framework and fostering personalized, predictive medicine. Ultimately, the insights shared during the event pave the way for a more integrated and technologically empowered future for public healthcare and overall well-being.
