The final conference of the HealChain project, funded by the Ministry of Finance and the Delegation of the European Union in Montenegro, was held at the Institute of Public Health (IPH) at the end of 2024.
The conference brought together experts from the fields of information technology, healthcare, and academia. The HealChain development team presented an innovative solution for safer and more efficient management of healthcare data using blockchain technology, laying the foundation for the future digitalization of healthcare services in Montenegro through blockchain.
The HealChain project has fulfilled all its key objectives, including the development of a blockchain platform and demo applications for secure management of electronic health records. Patients will have complete control over their data and the ability to determine who has access to their health information, while doctors emphasize the application’s intuitive design and functionality, which facilitates their daily work.
Participants shared their experiences and provided suggestions for further integration of the HealChain platform. It was highlighted that the platform enables greater transparency and trust in the handling of medical data.
The HealChain platform represents the beginning of a broader process of digital transformation in healthcare. Plans include its integration into the national healthcare system, which will enhance the quality of healthcare services. Moreover, the blockchain solutions developed within the project can be applied to other sectors, opening doors to new digital services that improve the daily lives of citizens.
HealChain is proof that Montenegro has the potential to lead the application of innovative technologies in the Balkans. The project serves as an example of how collaboration between industry, science, and the public sector can create solutions with a lasting impact on society.
It was outlined that this project is not only a step forward in the digitalization of healthcare but also an inspiration for future innovations.
